Hi bdarbs,

I just got an 11-inch MacBook Air last month and already lost my power adapter! I kinda do things like that though =) I think I left it plugged in at the library the last time I was there, and it was gone when I came back the next day. Boo.

When I looked online, I got very confused about all the options and wattages available. I saw 85 watt, 60 watt and 45 watt adapters for sale.

I ended up going into my local Apple Store (the one in Fashion Valley) and they said my MacBook Air needs the 45W magsafe power adapter, so that's what I got.

For any other accessory losers out there, the Apple guy said this is which power adapters go with each type of MacBook:

85 Watt Adapter:
  • 17-inch MacBook Pro

  • 15-inch MacBook Pro

60 Watt Adapter:
  • 13-inch MacBook Pro

  • MacBook

45 Watt Adapter:
  • 13-inch MacBook Air

  • 11-inch MacBook Air

I got the Canon PowerShot a few months ago at Amazon and love the quality of the pictures that it takes! The LCD screen is large and bright and the menus are simple and easy to navigate.

I particularly love how small this camera is! It's very easy to slip into my purse or even the front pocket of my jeans when I'm out and about with friends. After all, what good is a camera if you don't have it with you :)

The camera shoots at over 12MP. I have printed beautiful photos at Shutterfly up to 20 inches by 30 inches with no problem. I also take lots of videos of my nephews which look great on my computer or when uploaded to YouTube. The video resolution is a large 640 x 480 at 30 frames per second.

One other feature I love on this and other Canon cameras is the image stabilization feature. It allows you to hand hold practically any shot, even zoomed and low light ones. Very nice :)

I have had a few Canon point-and-shoot cameras now, and have developed a bit of brand loyalty. Even if you can't find the SD1300 I would recommend any camera that Canon makes. My girlfriend has a Canon DSLR and she loves that too.

Re: "I want a black ski jacket"

Look no further, I found your next ski jacket. It's mostly brown with black accents though :)

Or, if you aren't into teddy bears, Backcountry.com and Amazon.com have a bunch of nice women's ski and snowboard jackets from popular makers like Spyder, Helly Hansen, The North Face, Descente, Marmot, Marker, Oakley, Zero Xposur, Obermeyer, Tresspass, Columbia, Mountain Hardwear, Patagonia and many others.

Some tips when buying a ski jacket:
  • Get a ski jacket that can adapt to various weather conditions: many have zippered vents to allow you to cool off when the sun is beaming and you are shredding, but also have hoods and partial facemasks for when the wind is whipping and you are just trying to make it from the summit down to the lodge. As well, many shells allow for zipping in fleece liners for those uber-cold ski days.

  • Get a jacket that's made for skiing: ski-appropriate jackets will have features like powder skirts to keep snow from getting up your jacket in a tumble; convenient places to display you ski pass; exterior pockets for trail maps; and interior pockets for your mid-mountain granola bar snack and hand warmers.

  • Get a ski jacket that you look good in: if you feel good, you ski good and look better in a fall :)

  • Thin, light layers are better than one bulky one: layers insulate better, allow you to customize your clothing to the day's weather conditions, and better trap warm layers of air to help with the insultating. Oh yeah, those air layers are FREE! Make sure the layer closest to your skin is not cotton and is something that will breath and wick away moisture (ewww).

If you are risk averse, this is the genuine and highly rated Apple 85 watt MacBook MagSafe power adapter (Price: $79)

The eBay options are cheap enough that you might want to take a chance on them. You'll be making a $20 wager that what you'll get will be as good as the genuine $79 power adapter from Apple.

If you don't have one, you should take a look at the Apple Magic Mouse. I have one for my MacBook Air and for those times when I'm doing more than browsing around, it is a nice productivity addition. It connects easily via bluetooth to your MacBook and actually functions like a mini trackpad.

I love the touch scrolling where you just drag your fingers down the top of the mouse to scroll the screen. There is no click button, the whole front of the mouse clicks, which is cool. I also think it looks really nice!
